Trims, linings and the bill of materials

A piece is more than fabric: zips, buttons, thread, lining and labels. Forgetting one changes the cost and the quality.

The bill of materials (BOM)

It is a table that gathers every material in the piece: its description, the quantity per piece, the unit price and the waste allowance. It goes with the tech pack and the cost of the piece depends on it.

Quality standards

• Choose each trim to match the use it will get, because a poor zip ruins an excellent piece.
• Test zips and buttons on a sample before approving.
• Keep approved samples of each trim.
